Partner 01
K9s4PTSD
At Pawsitively Service Dogs, we are proud to partner with K9s4PTSD, an organization dedicated to helping individuals living with PTSD, mobility challenges, and other life-altering disabilities train their own public access service dogs.
Founded in Fredericton, New Brunswick in 2017, K9s4PTSD was created to make service dog training more accessible to veterans, first responders, and civilians who may otherwise face long waitlists or financial barriers to obtaining a fully trained service dog.
K9s4PTSD focuses on:
- Positive reinforcement training
- Public access preparation
- Task training workshops
- Group training opportunities
- Online educational resources
- Building strong therapeutic bonds between handlers and their dogs
Through this partnership, K9s4PTSD works alongside Melanie Burneau of Pawsitively Service Dogs, Nova Scotia, helping handlers work toward applicable public-access standards and prepare for any testing or provincial application process required in their province.
Their mission is simple: to help individuals regain confidence, independence, safety, and freedom through properly trained service dogs and ongoing support.
Why this partnership matters
Properly selected and trained service dogs can have a profound impact on a handler's daily life, supporting greater independence, safety, confidence and participation in their community. By combining accessible owner-training support with experienced guidance, we help teams build the skills needed for real-world success. Handlers receive support not only in training tasks and obedience, but also in developing the trust, consistency, and teamwork required for a successful service dog partnership.

- Support for owner-trained service dog teams
