The difference you can feel
Training changes more than a behaviour.
Good training gives handlers a clearer understanding of what their dog is communicating, and what to do next. That means a little more confidence, a little more freedom, and a way forward that feels doable.
A partnership-first approach
Why choose Pawsitively?
Choosing a service dog training program is a significant decision. Our goal is to provide clear, ethical and individualized training that supports both the handler and the dog throughout the process.
01
Our trainers bring more than 19 years of combined dog-training experience, with Melanie providing over 11 years of experience in Nova Scotia and Jenn providing 8 years of experience in British Columbia.
02
We use humane, evidence-based training methods focused on reinforcement, clear communication, emotional wellbeing and long-term reliability.
03
Service dog training is not one-size-fits-all. Training plans are adapted to the individual dog and handler, including disability-mitigating tasks based on the handler's needs.
04
Our Owner-Trainer Program includes 104 hours of individual training and guidance, typically completed over approximately 12 months. Weekly appointments last 1.5–2 hours, depending on the dog's age and needs. Training may extend beyond 12 months to complete the full 104 hours. The payment schedule is separate from the training timeline.
05
Pawsitively Service Dogs is committed to ongoing education, professional development and responsible service dog training practices.
